Babylon Charitable Trust

Is a non-profitable charitable organization and established to unite Middle-Eastern origins living in New Zealand, assisting them in preserving their culture, language and advocating multiculturalism and diversity so that all are caring, responsible and knowledgeable citizens, and helping new immigrants to settle and adapt to the new environment.

The Board

The executive board of the Trust (BCT) develops and applies the policy, vision and objectives of the Trust. The Board should meet quarterly throughout the year.

Objectives

  1. To promote friendship, mutual respect and understanding between the Community and the New Zealand society.
  2. To preserve, revive and disseminate culture heritage of the Community among new generations.
  3. To develop charitable activities and welfare of the Community in New Zealand.
  4. BCT considers necessary to achieve those objectives and future goals through the “Cultural and Social Community Center”, to develop its charitable activities which will cover the following programs and activities (Dependent on financial resources available):
    1. Quarterly Newsletters to inform the community about the current activities and events of the Trust. The Newsletters would be only used for community information purposes and not for any commercial, political promotion or agenda,
    2. Radio and television programmes for the advancement of education and to inform the community about the current activities and events of the Trust. The radio and television programmes would be only used for community information purposes and not for any commercial, political promotion or agenda.
    3. Training courses for the youth and families to ascertain and improve English language skills and introduce New Zealand laws and regulations.
    4. Tuition courses in Arabic language, music, Arts, etc...,
    5. Bible study sessions and discussions,
    6. Sport activities that purely promote charitable purposes and can be used for fundraising, provide recreational opportunities for people with disabilities, teaching skills to young people; which will help to relieve poverty, advance education or any other matter beneficial to the community,
    7. Regular and eventual gatherings (such as Christmas or Easter Days, National Days of Middle Eastern origin or other religious festivals such as Holy Cross or St Mary Days) to purely promote charitable purposes whether it relates to the relief of poverty; advancement of education, cultural or religion; or any other matter beneficial to the community by organizing fundraising activities (excluding any social events) to continue progress and spreading of the charitable nature amongst the community.
  5. To promote joint charitable activities and cooperation with the New Zealand society and the Community’s culture, customs, history and way of life through books, magazines, newspapers, lectures and statements etc.....
  6. To provide information and advice to assist the new migrants of the Community to settle in New Zealand.
  7. To participate actively in the developments of a culturally, pluralistically and charitably cohesive society in New Zealand relevant communities, organizations and structures.
  8. To promote actively with other charitable organisations by means of sending donations to support its activities.
